Funeral services for 80-year old Mr. Lawrence William Weller of Potsdam will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam. The Rev. Lee Sweeney, pastor of the KnappsStation Community Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Colton, New York in the spring.
Friends may call at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam on Thursday, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Lawrence died at his home in Potsdam on Wednesday, March 12, 2013.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Ruth of Potsdam; one son, Rocky Lee Weller of Denton, North Carolina; five daughters, Martha Jean LaBaff, Potsdam, Mrs. Judson (Rosa) Daggett, Massena, Ms. Robin C. Newtown, Bloomington, In., Ms. Tami Jo Deshane, Norwood, and Mrs. Bernice Louise Clements of Middlesex, North Carolina; two sisters, Carol Sharlow of Parishville and Helen Barney of Canton; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister, Alberta Planty; and two brothers, Donald L. Weller and Bernard F. Weller.
Lawrence was born in Hopkinton on May 22, 1932 the son of William and Marion Taylor Weller. He was married to Ruth A. Caster on April 10, 1954 at the Potsdam First Baptist Church.
Mr. Weller was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the American Rifle Association. He was a sawyer at the EE & CC Greene Lumber Mill in Sanfordville for many years.
