
Laurie A. Dana, 42, of North Lawrence passed away Thursday, July 19, as the result of a car accident.
Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.
She was born April 5, 1970 the daughter of Robert McCarthy and Mary Garrand. Laurie was a 1988 graduate of Brushton Moira Central School. Laurie received her Masters Degree from SUNY Plattsburgh, majoring in Speech Pathology. August 31, 1996, Laurie united into marriage with Jeffrey Dana at the St. Lawrence Church, North Lawrence. She had been employed as a Speech Pathologist for St. Lawrence Central School, beginning in1992.
Laurie’s passion began at home, with her husband Jeff and her two girls Caitlyn and Lauryn. She is described as a mother who was “in tune” with her children. Whether it be soccer practice, dance lessons, or gymnastics, Laurie always treasured every minute spent with her girls. With a genuine heart, every animal on the family farm trusted and respected her. No matter the size of the pet, they enjoyed seeing her and they brought her much peace. Laurie is remembered for her infectious smile. She had the natural ability to illuminate a room full of family and friends, just by being the loving caring person that she was.
She is survived by her beloved husband Jeffrey, her father Robert (Marlene) McCarthy of Moira, her mother Mary (Carl) Garrand of Brushton, father-in-law Donald Dana of Moira, a brother Timothy (Gina McCarthy) of Brushton, stepsiblings Craig Blanchard and a sister Cheryl Blanchard, Amy Garrand and Amanda Garrand. Also surviving Laurie are her brother-in-law Alan Dana of Plattsburgh and her sister-in-law Beth (Chris) Kemp of North Lawrence as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Her two daughters Caitlyn and Lauryn, her grandparents Robert and Elizabeth McCarthy, Lawrence and Laura Mills, predecease her,
Calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Flint Funeral home.
A combined funeral Mass for the Dana family will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church Brushton, with the Rev. Christopher Looby presiding, and the Rev. Gerry Giroux con-celebrating the Mass. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery and Sand Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of floral offerings, the family has requested that monetary donations in Laurie’s honor be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation at 25 Broadway 14 Floor, New York, NY 10004.
