Funeral service for Kathleen Brown, 50, of Pyrites, will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton, with Pastor Bob Clark, officiating. Burial will follow in the Hermon Cemetery. Kathleen died on Monday, October 27, while at home surrounded by family and under the care of St. Lawrence Valley Hospice.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 28 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the O’Leary Funeral Home. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.
Kathleen is survived by her husband of 31 years, Lawrence of Pyrites; two sons, Larry Brown and wife Jessie of DeKalb and Bryan Brown of Hermon; two daughters, Amber Brown and fiancé Matt Foote of Canton and Corina Weems and husband Dylan of Hermon; five grandchildren, Hunter, Dakota, Lawrence, Ian and Connor; six brothers, Greg Blackmer of Pierrepont, Edgar Blackmer of Russell, Mark Trimm of Florida, Tom and Adam Blackmer of Buffalo and Vernon Trim of Arizona; a sister, Debbie Blackmer of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was born April 13, 1964 in Canandaigua, the daughter of Edgar and Anna Mae (Aldrich) Blackmer. She graduated from Canton High School in 1983. On October 20, 1984 she married Lawrence E. Brown Jr. in Russell. She worked at Canton Central in the cafeteria, as a custodian and bus monitor. She enjoyed reading, playing on her iPad and spending time with her grandchildren as they were her pride and joy.
