June H. Young, 94, Waddington

June H. Young, 94, of Main St, Waddington, died Friday evening November 16, 2012 after a brief illness at Claxton-Hepburn Hospital surrounded by her family.

June was born in Gouverneur, June 17, 1918, the daughter of Warren and Lena (Raven) Hastings. She graduated from Heuvelton High School. June married Myron L Young September 6, 1936 at the Presbyterian Manse by Rev. Mc Roberts.

Surviving June are her two sons, Harry L. Young and wife Carolyn D. Garretson of Jaffrey, NH and Lee W. Young and wife Anne Marie Young of Waddington. She is also survived by a brother, Glenn D. Hastings and wife Leila Hastings of Morley; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grand children.

Mrs. Young was preceded by her husband, Myron L. Young on July 12, 1994; a son, John on February 15, 1998; three sisters, Anna Faye Smith, Arloween Bishop, Beatrice Macaulay and a brother, Warren W. Hastings, Jr.

Mrs. Young retired after 25 years as secretary of the Madrid-Waddington Central School. Previously she and her husband Myron were owners and operators of the Lawrence Hotel, Moria, NY and in 1944 they moved to Waddington where they owned and operated the St. Lawrence Hotel in Waddington, now the Clark House. June and her late husband Myron operated the Young’s Tourist Home for several years.

For many years June enjoyed attending the Waddington Summer Concert Series. June was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Waddington First United Methodist Church with Rev. Patricia Page and Tom Nichols officiating.
