POTSDAM -- Mrs. June C. Duryea, 86, a longtime resident of the Potsdam-Canton Road, peacefully passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017, at the Maplewood Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Canton.
June was born October 29, 1931, in Freeport, Long Island, the daughter of the late Victor and Mabel Meiselbach Sinagra.
On June 18, 1951, she married Richard Bowen Duryea in Glen Cove, NY. He predeceased her on May 23, 1998.
June was a homemaker and was also the District Clerk for the Potsdam Central School Board of Education for many years.
She was a longtime and dedicated member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Potsdam.
She had a great passion for hunting and fishing, cooking, and was an avid gardener and reader.
June is survived by her sons, David Richard Duryea and his wife, Patricia of Brunswick, Georgia and Greg Bowen Duryea of North Pole, Alaska; and her grandchildren, Beth Bennett and her husband, Craig, Richard, Sam, and Ben Duryea.
In addition to her parents and her husband, June was predeceased by her sister, Marie Duryea.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held at a time to be announced in the spring.
June was buried privately at the Bayside Cemetery, Potsdam.
