Joyce E. Ringo, 84, of Pine Street, died Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center after a short illness.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 5th at 7:00 p.m. at the Lawrence Funeral Home in Canton, with calling hours beginning at 6:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery at the convenience of the family, and a celebration of Joyce’s life will be held in the summer of 2013.
Born May 29, 1928, in Hackensack, New Jersey, Joyce was the daughter of the late Martin Kenneth and Martha Bell Kruger. She graduated in 1950 from St. Lawrence University, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. After graduation, she worked for Hoffmann-LaRoche, Inc., a pharmaceutical firm in Clifton, NJ, for three years. Joyce married Bryan Conway Ringo on July 19, 1953 in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, and later worked as librarian for Canton Free Library, retiring in 1980. She was active in the St. Lawrence University Alumni Association.
Joyce enjoyed her family, her network of friends in Canton, knitting, reading, and playing golf. She was a selfless and giving person, and refused any credit regarding the many people that she helped in her life. Her family and friends were central in her life. Joyce accepted and easily became friends with the people she met in her journey, and had the unique ability to bring light and laughter to any situation. She was the rock in the life of the Ringo family, and will be missed in ways that cannot be expressed in words.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Bryan C. Ringo of Canton; three children, Peter F. of Worcester MA, Christopher D. and wife Jennifer Bohannon of Corvallis, OR and Timothy D. of Mebane, NC and two granddaughters, Elena and Julia. She was predeceased by her son, Michael K. Ringo, in 2007, and her brother, Stanley J. Kruger.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Canton Free Library or to Renewal House.
