Joy E. Beck, 60, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at E.J. Noble Hospital in Gouverneur.

There is no funeral service and calling hours will be Thursday, February 28th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Gouverneur VFW Ladies Auxiliary service at 6:30 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

Joy was born in Gouverneur on June 19, 1952, the daughter of Clifford and Beulah Robinson Ethridge. She graduated from Gouverneur High School and attended Canton ATC.

Joy married Karl Beck on June 12, 1971 at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church with Rev. Stanley E. Brown officiating.

Joy was employed in food service as her husband served in the United States Army and at Nichol's Department Store in Virginia. She was very active in the Gouverneur VFW Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, and flower gardening.

Joy is survived by her husband Karl; her sisters, Darlene and Jim Epperson of Sunrise, FL, Sherri and Scott Blizzard of Whitmere, SC, and Lydia O'Shea Vance of Gouverneur; a brother, Spencer and Kim Vance of Mesa, AZ; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and four sisters, Roseanne Ethridge who died at birth, Dolly Whitton, Tonia Brady, and Tena Ethridge-Sorenson.
