Funeral services for Joan A. Cutway, age 75 formerly of the Tallman Road Ogdensburg will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Joseph Morgan & Rev. Msgr. Robert Lawler concelebrating. Interment will follow the service at Foxwood Memorial Park.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 -8 p.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Cutway passed away Dec 14, 2012 at the St. Joseph’s Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.
Surviving is her son, Donald W. Cutway Jr. and his spouse Matthew Fent of Dekalb Jct., NY; two daughters, Catherine and William Gemmill of Ogdensburg and Michelle Cutway and her partner Tracy Daniels of Norwood; a sister, Kathleen and David Amo; a brother, Robert and Nancy Butler of Canton; four grandchildren, Michelle & Nicholas Scott of AZ, Tyler Gemmill and Companion Megan Barber of AZ, Sydney Daniels of Norwood and Sadie Daniels of Norwood; and great-grandson Kayden Barber. Her husband, Donald W. Cutway Sr., and a brother, Francis Butler predeceased her.
Joan was born on August 1, 1937 in Potsdam, a daughter of the late Francis & Mary (Regan) Butler. She graduated from Canton High School and continued her education at Mater Dei College with a major in social work. She married Donald W. Cutway Sr. on May 4, 1957 at St. Mary’s Church in Canton.
During her career, she was employed as a nurse’s aid at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital and St. Joseph’s Home. She later became a part-time bus driver for Heuvelton Central School in addition to operating Joan’s Collectable’s for over ten years in her retirement.
