Jesse Kenneth Langley, a resident of Portland, died on September 30, 2012 in Portland. He was 82 years of age.

Jesse was born on March 17, 1930 in Harriman, Tennessee and was the son of Edgar and Ethel (Jernigan) Langley. He graduated from Harriman High School and in 1951 he enlisted in the United States Army. He honorably served his country during the Korean conflict. He was released from Active Duty in 1953 and received an honorable discharge from the Army Reserves in 1957 at the rank of Sergeant.

On May 8, 1953, he married Barbara Lou Duggins in Harriman Tennessee. In 1957, he received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Tennessee and worked for Reynolds Metals in Florence, Alabama. He was transferred to the plant in Massena, New York in 1970 and to Troutdale in 1975. He retired as the Superintendent of Production in 1990.

Jesse was tenacious, a perfectionist and full of "scrappy" energy. He was quick with a joke and easy with a smile. He was 3 handicap golfer and enjoyed beating Democrats especially when it meant taking their money. He was a lifelong Republican (still is), a Tennessee Volunteer for Life and a member of the Mill Park Baptist Church where they had nicknamed him "Amen Ken." Jesse had high standards for himself and for others. He was also very generous with his time and simply cherished his God, University and Church Families. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jesse is survived by his sons; Michael and David both of Portland and his sister; Lorraine Taylor of Georgia along with 1 grandchild. His wife, Barbara Lou and his brothers, Carlyle, Johnny and Warren all preceded him in death.
