OGDENSBURG -- Funeral services for Jeffrey Wager, age 66, will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at St. John’s Episocpal Church on Caroline Street, Ogdensburg, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Edgar Lacombe officiating.
Burial will be in Ogdensburgh Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017, at Frary Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Wager passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at his home.
Jeffrey is survived by his mother, Imogene Wager of Ogdensburg; his sister, Susan Insel of Fulton; and five nieces and nephews, Benjamin Young, Matthew Young and his wife, Dana, Abigail Young, Michael Insel and Alexander Insel; and one great nephew, Connor Levi Young.
Jeffrey was predeceased by a brother, Leslie (Sandy) Wager, Jr; and his father, Dr. Leslie A. Wager.
Jeffrey was born on November 2, 1950, in Ogdensburg, the son of Leslie A. and Imogene Wolfe Wager.
He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and attended Manlius Military School. While in high school Jeffrey, affectionately referred to as “Babba,” excelled in baseball and football and also played the lead role in the play “Once Upon A Mattress.” Jeffrey was also known at OFA as a great first baseman with an amazing " first baseman's stretch. ”
Mr. Wager later went to Louisburg College in North Carolina where he played baseball. During his attendance at Louisburg the baseball team went twice to the Junior College World Series in Colorado where they won both years.
Jeffrey went on to graduate from Ithaca College with a degree in Physical Education. He also played Double A Baseball in Watertown during the course of his career.
Jeffery was a very devoted, kind, sweet man not only to his family but to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by many.
