MASSENA -- James T. LaPage, 83, of State Highway 420, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Massena Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Friends and family may be received on Monday, November 27, 2017 from 2-4 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. until the time of funeral service at 8:00 P.M. at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.
James was born on November 21, 1934 in Fort Covington the son of the late Thomas H. and Robena (Ranger) LaPage. He graduated from St. Mary’s School in Massena and then entered the US Army serving as Military Police where he was honorably discharged in 1958. He then married Alice Kirkey on March 31, 1959 at St. Joseph’s Church in Massena. James began his working career at the Rialto Theater and 56 Auto Drive-In, he later went to work for NY State Department of Transportation Highway, retiring after 27 years of service. He was a member of the AmVets Post #4 of Massena. He was an avid reader and a World War II history buff. He was an animal lover and cherished his dogs “Whoopie” and “Paco”.
He is survived by his wife Alice of 58 years, and their children, Julie LaPage and companion Henry LaCombe of Brasher Falls, NY; Mike and wife Lisa LaPage of Massena; James LaPage of Massena; Kevin and wife Amey LaPage of Brasher Falls; Marie and husband Anthony Perry Jr. of Massena, Brian LaPage and companion Jody Martin of Norfolk, NY and Amanda and husband William Ayotte of Massena. 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Donald LaPage and a sister Aletha Robert.
