Mr. James K. Hume, 84, of 2 Elizabeth Ave., peacefully passed away Sunday morning, September 9, 2012 at Massena Memorial Hospital, where he had been admitted on September 5, 2012.
James was born December 23, 1927 in Massena, the son of the late Leo J. and Marion A. Courtney Hume. He attended Massena Schools. On September 6, 1950, he married Evelyn Hingston at the Emmanueal Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. David Sandstrum, officiating. Evelyn predeaceased him on June 23, 2012.
He worked for Alcoa for thirty years until his retirement. After his retirement at Alcoa he was a school bus driver for St. Lawrence Central School for ten years. He also built numerous houses in the area. Jim and his wife Eveyln were avid square dancers and belonged to the U-Wanna Squares. They also operated a shop that sold clothing for square dancers along with second hand items. He enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid dog lover.
He is survived by his adopted children, Patty and Danny Dibble of Winthrop; and a cousin, Les Ross of Chicago, IL.
Friends may call Friday 10-11 a.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Judith VanKennan, officiating. Burial will follow in Winthrop Cemetery.
