Funeral Services for James E. Day, age 92, of Riverview Towers, will be held on Wednesday, November 7, at 3:00 p.m. at Frary Funeral home. Calling hours will be held from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Interment will be at Foxwood Mausoleum. Mr. Day passed away at the home of his daughter, Mary Day, on Albany Avenue November 4, 2012.
James is survived by one son, Danny and his wife LaVerne of Independence, Ohio; a daughter, Mary Day and companion John (Chaddy) Fredrick of Ogdensburg; and three grandchildren, Kathleen and her husband James Hill, Colin and his wife Carolyn, and Kristen Day and her companion Nate Toney.
Mr. Day was born July 14, 1920, in Ogdensburg, the son of Edward and Cora Bushey Day. He attended local schools in Ogdensburg. He married Mary Margaret Riley on January 21, 1946 at Notre Dame Church with Monsignor A.D. Charbonneau officiating. She predeceased him in 1995. Mr. Day served in the United States Army in World War II. He is the second to last survivor of Company M. He retired as a maintenance engineer at Wadhams Hall. He was a past member of the VFW and he belonged to the Second Ward Boosters.
Mr. Day enjoyed watching cowboy films and listening to the police scanner.
