Funeral Services for James Adams, age 72, of Morris Street will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 12:00 noon at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Frary Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in the spring. Mr. Adams passed away on April 1, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
James is survived by his wife, Doreen; his daughter, Jill and her husband Jeffrey Beyel; two sisters, Sister Judy Adams of Ogdensburg and Jane Sweeney of Riverledge Adult Home; and a grandson, Tyler Beyel.
He was predeceased by a son, Gil in 2001; and a sister, Joan.
James was born on June 4, 1940 in Ogdensburg, the son of John and Jean Driscoll Adams. He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1958 and then also graduated from Canton ATC in 1964 with an accounting degree. He first went to work for Ray Gary Chevrolet and then Howland Pump and later at Ultramar. He retired from U.S. Customs as a customs agent in August 2007. He married Doreen Boadway at St. Mary’s Church in Massena on June 16, 1962 with Monsignor Leary officiating.
He is a past member of the Elk’s Club and the Knights of Columbus.
