CANTON -- Isabel Lewis, 88, passed away on November 26, at her home with her family by her side and attended by Hospice.
Born in Hermon, Isabel was one of 14 children. She was the daughter of the late Carl and Goldie Fuller Brown of Hermon. On Feb. 2, 1946 she married Alfred Lewis. He passed away on May 26, 1995.
Isabel was pre-deceased by sons Al and Mitchell Lewis and an infant son, Raymond. She was also pre-deceased by family members Thelma McCready, Rosemary Brown, Gary & Rose Brown, Nancy & Weldon Brown, Ronald & Rose Brown, Ernest & Barbara Brown, Mike & Daphne Filiatrault and Kenny & Wanda Jackson.
Isabel is survived by her daughter, Monica and Bruce Smith, Canton; and sons, Gary Lewis and Phillip Lewis, Canton.
She is survived by brothers and sisters: Bonnie and Jim Barker, Ramona and Norman Raffer, Clifford and Joann Brown, Frankie Brown, David Brown and Delbert Brown. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Isabel worked at Claxton Hepburn hospital for 23 years and also did private duty nursing.
She was very hard working. She loved spending time with her family and being outdoors, especially for picnics.
Family and friends will celebrate Isabel’s life on Friday, December 1 from 1-3pm at the Hospice Facility, 6805 US Highway 11, Potsdam.
Donations in Isabel’s memory should be made to a charity of one’s choice.
