Herlinde A. LaRouech, 85, passed away on June 25, 2012 at her home in Massena surrounded by her loving family and hospice. She was born on May 25, 1927 in Austria the daughter of Hans and Paula (Falta) Karrer. She married Richard D. LaRouech on May 8, 1948 in Salzburg, Austria, Mr. LaRouech predeceased her on February 3, 1990.

Herlinde was a teacher working for Head Start in Massena school systems and retired in 1986 after 25 years. Each of her five children valued her Austrian influence and could not be more proud of the many challenges she overcame as she relocated a family of seven every three years from one military post to another, across the Atlantic and back.

Herlinde's survivors include her daughters, Jenny LaRouech of Potsdam and Carol and husband Lee Roney of Watertown; her son, Raymond M. and wife Eileen LaRouech of East Aurora: three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sons, Robert P. and Richard D. Jr.
