Herbert L. Goodison, 74, of Kelly Road, Rensselaer Falls died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. There will be a private family service held at Foxwood Memorial Park with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating.
Herb was born on April 16, 1940 in Ogdensburg, son of the late Lowell and Charlotte (McClure) Goodison. He graduated from Heuvelton Central School and married Kathleen E. Davis on Oct. 20, 1962. She predeceased him on Sept. 11, 1985. He again found love, and was remarried to Joan (Sparks) Swanson on May 2, 1987.
Surviving is his wife Joan; a daughter Susan Goodison of Elk Grove, Calif.; two step-daughters, Gail Moore and her husband James of Oak Island, N.C. and Karen Beiter and her husband Harold of Hudson, Fla.; three sisters-in-law, Judy Farrell and her husband James of Rhode Island, Joan Sutkowski and her husband Stanley of Delaware and Rosemary Knowlton of South Carolina; a brother-in-law, Michael Davis and his wife Lori of Heuvelton; a granddaughter, Erin Collins; and seven step-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins
His sister Janet Scott predeceased him on Oct. 8, 2014.
He worked as a Marine Supply Sales Representative for more than 35 years and retired in 2000. Herb was a past member of the St. Lawrence Golf and Country Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, gardening, traveling, golfing and spending time with his friends and family.
