Funeral services for Helen M. Roach age 91 a resident of the United Helpers Nursing Home and formerly of Knox Street in Ogdensburg, will be held on Wednesday (Nov 17, 2010) at 11:00 a.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Deacon Francis Bateman officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ogdensburg.
There will be no public calling hours. Mrs. Roach passed away Monday (Nov 15, 2010) at the nursing with her loving son Michael and niece Bonnie Burns by her side.
Surviving is her son, Michael Roach of Ogdensburg; a sister, Rita Miles of Syracuse; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, George; two sisters, Mary Duprey and Charlotte Kelley; and four brothers, Henry, William, George and Kenneth Burns.
Helen was born on June 30, 1919 in Ogdensburg, a daughter of the late George and Charlotte (Sauve) Burns. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1937, and married George J. Roach on February 24, 1945. She was employed at Woolworth, The Sunshine Store and Carbino’s Jewelers during her younger years and was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Cathedral. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, cooking and going for rides.
