Funeral service for Harriet J. Jenne, 87, of Hermon will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Hermon United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Hart, officiating. Burial will follow in the Hermon Cemetery. Friends may call at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton, from 4 - 7 p.m. on Monday and again Tuesday morning at the church, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral.
Harriet died Thursday at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Hermon United Methodist Church.
Surviving Harriet are sisters, Eleanor Johnson of Lehigh Acres FL, Phyllis Edwards of Lady Lake FL and Nancy Johnson of Canton and several nieces and nephews.
Brothers, John “Dunky” and Charles Johnson both predecease her.
Harriet was born February 21, 1925 in Hermon, daughter of the late John and Ora (Chase) Johnson. She graduated from Hermon High School in 1942. Harriet worked as Hermon Village Clerk for 39 years retiring in 2007.
She was a member of the St. Lawrence Golf and Country Club; a longtime active member of the SLGCC Ladies Association; She was a long time member of the Northern New York 6 women golf team; she won the Women’s Club championship seven times between 1978 and 1998. Harriet was a member of the Hermon Order of Eastern Stars and long time active member of the Hermon United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling, cards, puzzles and reading.
