Harold E. “Slug” Brozzo, 76, Hermon

Harold E. “Slug” Brozzo, 76, Hermon, passed away on Thursday, May 17, at E.J. Noble Hospital in Gouverneur.

Per his request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

Harold was born on January 29, 1936 in Gouverneur to the late Archie and Vera (Morse) Brozzo. He attended school in Gouverneur. He married Lara Roberts on April 16, 1993. A previous marriage to Norma Rubadue ended in divorce.

Slug worked as a butcher, a veterinary assistant for Dr. Cappelino, for St. Joe Mineral Corp as a laborer and for Fort Drum as a maintenance man. He lived the last 20 years as a devoted, loving husband.

Slug enjoyed fishing, camping, listening to music, bird watching and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching John Wayne westerns.

He is survived by his wife, Lara of Hermon; three sons and their wives, Mike and Dolly Brozzo of Cloverport, KY, George and Yvette Brozzo of Boykins, VA and Daniel and Gwen Brozzo of Farmington, NM; two step sons, Joseph Payne of New Orleans, LA and Alvin Payne II of Chapmanville, WV; a step daughter and her husband, Carlin and Chad Facey of Hermon; two sisters, Helen (Brozzo) Lashbrooks and Donna (Brozzo) Sinclair, both of Gouverneur; four brothers, Gerald “Bub” Brozzo, Robert “Bob” Brozzo, Randy Brozzo and Wayne Brozzo all of Gouverneur; 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Two special people that helped the family through this difficult time were “Children” Lydia O’Shea-Vance and Christina McIntosh.

Slug is predeceased by a son, Harold “Floyd” E. Brozzo, Jr.; his parents, Archie and Vera (Morse) Brozzo; and two sisters, Marjorie (Brozzo) McIntosh and Sally (Brozzo) Travis.

Donations may be made in Harold’s memory to French Funeral Home.
