OGDENSBURG – A funeral Mass for Gwenna E. Barr, 77, of 15 Barr Road, Ogdensburg, will be held on Friday (Sept 3, 2010) at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Her place of rest will be at Foxwood Memorial Park.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
Mrs. Barr passed away on Tuesday (Aug. 31, 2010) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Surviving are her children Doxandra Kinch & her husband Robert, Cheryl Myers & her husband Harold, Susan Barr & her companion Dennis "Squeak" Montroy, Gregory Barr & his wife Ann, Linda Abar & her husband Randy, Timothy Barr & his wife Dawn, Nicholas Barr & his wife Annette, Paul Barr & his wife MaryBeth, Steven Barr & his wife Renee and Franklin Barr Jr. & his fiancée Rachel Pusateri all of Ogdensburg; 27 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Franklin T. Barr Sr. on Feb. 10, 2008, a brother Robert Bothwell and a step-mother Ellen Bothwell.
Gwenna was born on June 12, 1933 in Ogdensburg, a daughter of Robert & Esther (Ormiston) Bothwell. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in1951 and married Franklin T. Barr on May 3, 1952 at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
Her working career began at the Lakeside Restaurant until she became employed at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, and worked as their food service manager for many years.
She enjoyed cooking, reading, knitting, attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time on the river with her family.
Memorial contributions have been requested to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley or the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center.
