
Gregory J. Reid, 63, of Massena, passed away on May 9, 2012 at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, VT. Greg was employed at US Customs and Immigration as a Immigration Port Director, prior work included working at Pratt Whitney, CT.
He was born on October 15, 1948 in Massena the son of Earl J. and Susan (Windsor) Reid. He graduated from Madrid-Waddington High School in 1965 and Canton ATC with an Associate’s degree in Business Administration. Greg proudly served in the US Army during Vietnam War, serving as Sergeant in 101st Airborne.
He is survived by his wife Barbara; children Brian and Karri of Norwich and Susan and Joseph Dullea of Putnam Valley; four grandchildren, Nolan, Braden, Collin and Kerragan; sister Patricia and Arnold Dunn of Potsdam; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters, Helen Stevens, Eunice Alquire and Leona McQuinn; and brothers Henry Orville Reid and Leslie Reid.
He married Barbara Baldwin on September 23, 1972 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Allison Woods. Greg was a member of the American Legion Post #79, VFW #1143, F&AM Lodge 513. He enjoyed fishing on the St. Lawrence, and Grasse River. He was an avid supporter of his children's sporting events. He was an avid reader.
Friends and family are invited to call on Friday from 2-7 p.m. at Phillips Memorial Home in Massena. A Mass of Resurrection will be Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Massena. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
