World War II Veteran George P. LaValley, 91, passed away Sunday (November 25, 2012) morning at Massena Memorial Hospital. Funeral arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.
George was born April 15, 1921, in Brushton, the son of the late George A. & Elizabeth (Dupree) LaValley, and was educated in Brushton. April 19, 1940, George enlisted in the Army Air Corp, and served in the Armed Forces until June 25, 1945. He received a commendation of bravery for his participation at Pearl Harbor. Throughout George’s life, he owned many farms throughout St. Lawrence and Franklin Counties. George married Betty Frary LaValley who predeceased him in 1986.
George is survived by five daughters, Paula O’Bine, Marjorie LaValley and Bonnie LaValley all of Buffalo, Peggy and George Crandall of Winthrop, and Melody and Gene Jandreau of North Lawrence; three sons, Rickey (Naomi) LaValley of Massena, Randy LaValley of Wolcott, and Robin LaValley of Lawrenceville; and numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sons, Kelly and George LaValley; and two brothers, Walter LaValley, and Jimmy Stone.
Memorial contributions in George’s honor may be made to the Lawrenceville Volunteer Fire Department, 1801 County Rte 54, Lawrenceville, NY 12949.
All services for George will be private, and held at the convenience of his family.
