George H. Davis, 86, of Leach St. passed away on March 20, 2013 at Massena Memorial Hospital.
George was born on March 22, 1926 in Massena the son of William and Florence (Daly) Davis. After graduation he entered the U.S Navy having served during WW II, following his honorable discharge he worked at Alcoa as a machine operator. He later entered the U.S. Air Force having served during Korean Conflict, and Vietnam War retiring in 1968. A marriage to Daisy McGregor ended in divorce. On November 15, 1995 George married Mildred LaPradd in Massena. George was a member of the VFW Post #1143, Loyal Order of the Moose, and DAV. He was a very talented mechanic and George enjoyed playing cards.
His survivors include his wife, Mildred; a daughter, Linda and Brian Swierk of Turner, ME; seven grandchildren, George III, Donna, David, and Georgiana, all of TN, Joshua of Valdez, AK, Rebekah of Hebron, ME and Hannah of Sabattus, ME; his step children, Carolyn and Richard Love of Massena, Harold and Yancy LaPradd of Massena, Oliver and Carmella of Fair Bluff, NC, Sharon and Robert Gesualdi of Massena, Helen Macleod of Finch, Ont, Diane and Bob Nigel of Massena, Debra Mitchell of Ft. Wayne, IN and Douglas and Bobby Jo LaPradd of Massena; many great grandchildren, many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his sister, Muriel Kinnear of Massena.
He was predeceased by a son, George H. Davis in 1985; and siblings, Ruth Trimm, John P. Davis, William Davis, Eva Waters, Florence Berckley, Charles A. Davis, Alvin R. Davis, and Ralph Davis.
Friends and family may be received from 2-4 p.m. and will continue to receive family and friends from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at Phillips Memorial Home in Massena with Rev. Elizabeth Papazoglakis presiding from St. John's Episcopal Church. Interment will be in Pine Grove II Cemetery, Norfolk in the spring with full military honors. Friends and family may be received from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
