Genevieve “Gen” E. Woods, 89, Ogdensburg

Funeral services for Genevieve “Gen” E. Woods, age 89 formerly of 28 Jersey Avenue in Ogdensburg will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith & Rev. Laurena Will co-officiating. Her place of rest will be at Foxwood Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Woods passed away at the Riverledge Healthcare Facility on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.

Surviving is her daughter Karen Cruikshank and her husband Basil of Huntington Beach, CA; a daughter-in-law Norma Woods of Ogdensburg; grandchildren Scott Cruikshank and his wife Norma of Cypress, CA, Todd Cruikshank and his wife Yolanda of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, Shawn Cruikshank and his companion Meagan Davies of Fountain Valley, CA, Robert Woods and his wife Krista of Ogdensburg, Angela Boyer and her companion Joseph Baxter of Ashland , OH, Leslie Woods and her fiancé Travis Reed of Dedham, MA; ten great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Anne Tooley of Tupper Lake; brothers Ronald Tooley and his wife Margaret of Ogdensburg, Gerald Tooley Kinnelon, NJ along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her husband, Gordon J. Woods along with a son, Robert Woods and two brothers, Lorne and Robert Tooley predeceased her.

Gen was born on February 3, 1924 in Oxford Mills Ontario, a daughter of the late Henry and Eva (Beggs) Tooley. She attended Canton High School and the Ogdensburg Business School. She then married Gordon J. Woods on May 29, 1948 at the First Presbyterian Church in Ogdensburg with Rev. Melville Nesbit officiating.

She worked as a seamstress for Randall’s Manufacturing for 14 years and then for Woods Bag & Canvas for an additional ten years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, The Maple City Home Bureau Club, The Claxton Hepburn Medical Center Auxiliary and gift shop volunteer and a member of the Eskimo Travel Trailer Club. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, crafts of all kinds, playing cards, camping, flower gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.
