Gene F. Demers age 66 of North Bangor passed away Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.
Born May 23, 1945 in Malone he was the son of the late Leo and Mary Tuttle Demers. He was a 1963 graduate of Brushton-Moira High School.
He first started work for Kraft in North Lawrence, he later worked for Kimberly-Clark in New Milford, Ct., where he retired in 2000. On June 17, 2005 he was united in marriage to Dorothy “Dot” Dupree. She survives.
After his retirement he moved back to the North Country where he operated a small farm. Other hobbies included hunting, fishing, woodworking and working with his horses.
He was a member of the NRA, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Malone.
Besides his wife he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Bridget Demers of Wingdale, Darrin Demers of Moira and Stanley and Carrie Demers of Virginia; one step-daughter, Ronda Owens of Massena; three stepsons David Clancy of Boston, Mass., Chris Clancy of North Bangor and Ron Russin of So. Carolina; many grandchildren; one sister, Sheila Demers of Louisville, NY; three brothers, Philip Demers of Brushton, Donald Demers of Connecticut and Kevin Demers of Lawrence, NY; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and several aunts and uncles.
Friends may call at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 from 12 - 2 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Flint Funeral Home, Moira with the Rev. Roger Preve officiating.
Spring Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Brushton.
Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church in Malone or the Life Way Church in North Bangor.
