MASSENA -- Garth P. Garlach, 83, of George St., passed away surrounded by his loving family at Massena Memorial Hospital after a brief illness on Wednesday evening, October 31, 2018.
Friends and family may be received on Saturday, November 3, 2018, from 4:00pm until the time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.
Internment will take place at a later date in Calvary Cemetery.
Garth was born on June 22, 1935, in Massena, the son of Leo and Kathleen (Fregoe) Garlach.
He attended Massena Schools and on July 6, 1956, he married Sandra Goolden at St. Mary’s Church, Massena. She predeceased him in 1993.
Garth worked for Alex Ice as a delivery driver for 30 years. He also owned and operated GAR-SAN Ceramics in Massena for 25 years and kept busy by helping his son out at Big Raquette Landscaping. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR.
Garth is survived by his children, Jeff of Massena, Stacey and husband, Jim Littlejohn of VA and Leslie Garlach of OH; four grandchildren, Hilliary and Charlie Durant of Louisville, Renelle and Sean Ryan of Massena, Brooke and Tom Green of Dresher, PA, and Ali and Tommy of Richmond, VA; four great grandchildren, Bode Durant, Mia and Jack Green and Max Ryan; two sisters, Faith and Larry Heidal of Tacoma, Washington, Beth and Gail Anderson, of Clarkston, Washington; a brother, Steve and Jonnie Garlach of Cheyenne Wyoming. He was predeceased by a brother, Lee Garlach.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
Arrangements are under the care of Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.
