Gail Irene Green, 61, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg.
A funeral mass will be held Saturday, July 21st at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Canton with Fr. Douglas Lucia officiating and burial in Hermon Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 1:00 to 3:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Hermon.
Gail was born on August 25, 1950 in Albany, the daughter of Roy and Genevieve Birmingham Gilbert. She graduated from Voorheesville High School in 1968 and received a Master's degree in elementary education from Potsdam State. Gail was a kindergarten teacher at Edwards-Knox Central School for thirty years, retiring in 2011.
Gail married Vernon A. Green on May 25, 1997 in Hermon. Gail attended St. Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed reading, traveling, teaching and spending time with children, especially her grandchildren. Gail also enjoyed trips with her husband to Stillwater Hunting Club.
Gail is survived by her husband, Vernie; her children, Thomas K. Lawrence of Roanoke, VA, John Jay and Melissa Lawrence of Canton, Thaddeus V. and Jessica Green of Dallas, TX, and Valerie J. and David Scribner of Silver Spring, MD; eight grandchildren; her parents, Genevieve Gary of Powder Springs, GA, and Roy Gilbert of Westfield, PA; a brother, Roy Gilbert of Pawley's Island, SC; a sister, Betty Jane Benzing of Powder Springs, GA; and nieces and nephews.
