Freda Frary, age 80, of Winthrop, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, March 06, 2013, while she was enjoying her winter home in Yuma, Arizona. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
She was born August 4th, 1932 in the town of Stockholm, to Glenwood and Lixina (Mere) Gary and was the oldest of 7 children. Freda attended Parishville Hopkinton Central School where she met her husband of 47 years, Walter Frary. They were married on October 20th, 1950. She served as the St. Lawrence Central School tax collector and was the clerk for the Town of Stockholm until she retired. Freda enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with her family and friends. She was highly thought of by everyone who knew her.
She remarried to Wilfred Sochia on February 26, 2005 and he survives.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mitzi Spizirri and husband Bob of Steelton, Pennsylvania and Bonnie Henderson and husband, Richard of Rapid City, South Dakota; son, John and wife, Marjorie of Dekalb Junction; son, Francis and wife, Tammy of Adams Center; daughters, Joanne Schnaars of Perry, Michigan and Betty and husband, Scott of Brookston, IN; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Freda’s Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Buckton United Methodist Church, 710 Buckton Road, Winthrop. Burial will be in Union (Buckton) Cemetery in the town of Stockholm.
