Fay L. Lang, 68, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Upstate Hospital, Syracuse. Fay was born March 22, 1942 in Hermon, the son of John and Evelyn Earl Lang. Fay married Gail Lacey on August 21, 1976 at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church with Rev. Stanley E. Brown officiating. The couple has lived on Mill Street since their marriage.
He attended Hermon schools and worked several years on the William Reynolds farm. Fay began employment at James River Paper Company in 1969 and he retired from there in 1991.
Fay was a member of the SONS of the American Legion, DADS of the VFW, and TOPS #576 of Fowler. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, gardening, old country music, and traveling, especially to Virginia Beach. Fay also enjoyed assisting others, especially the elderly and assisting with fund raising jamborees and spending time with his family.
Fay is survived by his wife, Gail; a son, Jeffrey Lang of Gouverneur; a daughter, Donna Lang and her life companion Patricia Jarvis of Watertown; his good friends, Bill Rabidieu, Rick Allen, Avery Roberts, and Donald Horton; and cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Carl Lang; and an infant sister.
A funeral will be held Wednesday, July 21st at 11:00 a.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur with Rev. James Barnes II, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Potsdam officiating and burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, Richville. Calling hours are Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
