OGDENSBURG -- Funeral services for Eugene Harris age 96 of Ogdensburg and formerly of Lisbon, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Lay Speaker Larry Caufield officiating. Burial will follow the service at the White Church Cemetery in Lisbon.
Calling hours will also be held on Thursday, from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Harris passed away on Monday (Nov 6, 2017) at the Riverledge Healthcare Facility with his good friends Linda & Steve LaFleur by his side.
Surviving are two children Richard DuPont and Diane (Gail) Beck both of Georgetown, MD; a special nephew Kendall Harris & his wife Sally of Campton NH; good friends Linda & Steve LaFleur of Ogdensburg along with many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Five brothers Donald, Douglas, Mason, Newcombe Jr. & Vernon Harris predeceased him.
Eugene was born on Sept 13, 1921 in Peterborough NH, a son of the late Newcomb & Ethel (Kendall) Harris Sr. He graduated from Peterborough High School and later married Joann Smith which later ended in divorce.
He was remarried on April 3, 1965 to Helen M. Burgess. She predeceased him in 2005.
During his career he was employed with MK & PK Company as a licensed crane operator and later as a heavy equipment operator for Local Union 545 in Syracuse.
He retired in 1983 and enjoyed socializing with friends, welding and woodworking.
