Elizabeth “Liz” V. Santimaw, 90, of 35 Riverside Drive, died May 26, 2010 at Champlain Valley Physician’s Hospital in Plattsburgh.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the Lawrence Funeral Home in Canton, with Rev. Mother Evette Austin officiating. Calling hours will be Friday May 28th at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning from 10-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Canton.

She is survived by her children Alice, Doris, Marcia and Bob and wife Gail; 22 grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Hance and husband Mahlon; 35 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sons Paul and Jim Santimaw.
Born June 7, 1919 in the Town of Oswegatchie, she was the daughter of Mynard Henry Preston and Florence Pearl Lawrence Preston, she graduated from Canton High School in the mid 1930’s.
On June 22, 1937 she married Theodore Lash in Massena. The marriage ended in divorce. On November 4, 1938, she married Edward G. Santimaw in the Town of Fine. Mr. Santimaw died November 13, 1959.
The couple owned and operated “Ed’s Market” on Miner Street, Canton for 27 years. Many kids of the time would stop to buy “penny candy”.
She also worked at Canton Bakery for a number of years.
“Liz” was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and Senior Citizens Club in Canton. She also enjoyed playing cards and cooking.
