Eleanor J. Meilleur, age 81, of Russell, passed away on July 2, 2012 at the Fletcher-Allen Health Care in Burlington, VT.

Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Edwards on Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. officiated by Pastor Ed Law. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Clare.

Eleanor was born on December 22, 1930 in Natural Dam to the late John and Bernice (Richardson) Morrissey. She graduated from Edwards High School in 1947 and worked as a hair stylist, owning and operating The Corner Beauty Salon in Canton. A marriage to Lemond Meilleur ended in divorce.

Eleanor was a member and past President of the Russell Senior Citizens Club, member of the Gouverneur VFW and American Legion Axillaries, and a member of the Edwards Methodist Church.

Her survivors include her son, Ricky Meilleur of Russell; four grandchildren, Melissa Catton, and Richard, Gregory and Emily Meilleur; and 11 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her daughter, Sharon Meilleur who passed away on November 29, 2010; and her brother, Edward Drake.

Donations in memory of Eleanor may be made to the Russell Community Club or the American Heart Association.
