Funeral services for Eileen D. Froats, 84, of Halfway House Road and most recently Massena, will be held on Tuesday, June 5, at 10 a.m. at St. Johns the Baptist Church in Madrid. Friends and family may call on Monday, June 4, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Phillips Memorial Home in Madrid.

Eileen passed away on May 31 at Massena Memorial Hospital. Eileen was born in Saranac Lake on February 19, 1928, the daughter of Henry and Lottie (Duquette) DuBray. She attended Saranac Lake Schools and graduated from Massena High School. Eileen married Carl E. Froats on April 23, 1949, at Sacred Heart Church. Carl predeceased her on September 28, 2010. Prior to her marriage, Eileen was employed at Alcoa. She and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm. They retired in 1975 and continued to reside on the Halfway House Road.

They previously spent many winters in Penellas Park, FL.

Eileen is survived by a son, Earl and wife Laurie Marr of Madrid; a daughter, Marlene and Greg Rice of Eugene, OR; four grandchildren, Tonya Williams (Rod) of Port Orange, FL., Jason (Sandra) Froats of Waddington, Gregory Rice Jr. and Shawna of Eugene, OR, Andrew Rice and Katherine of Eugene, OR; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo DuBray of Massena; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Howard DuBray and Robert DuBray; and two sisters, Geraldine Pray and Thelma Szarka.
