MASSENA -- Eileen C. French, 87 of St. Regis Nursing Home and formerly of LBSH of Brasher Falls, passed away on Dec. 23, at the St. Regis Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, Dec. 28, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 7:00 p.m. at Phillips Memorial Home in Massena. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family in the spring.
Eileen was born on May 25, 1930 in Norfolk, the daughter of James and Julianne (Christain) Brothers. She attended local schools and married Melvin French on Nov. 29, 1947. He predeceased her on April 27, 1993.
She enjoyed snowmobiling, camping gardening, playing bingo and visiting the casino, where luck seemed to be in her favor.
She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Brasher.
Eileen is survived by her daughter, Karen and Allen Rush of Massena; a son, Bruce and Kathy French of Fort Wayne, IN; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Gary French; and two brothers, Herbert and Nelson Brothers; and sisters, Roberta Warner, Beatrice Olmstead, Eunice Stevens, Jean Beauliea, Barbara Doxetator, and Eva Murry.
