MASSENA – Mr. Douglas G. Munro, 46, of 100 Liberty Ave, unexpectedly passed away Friday afternoon, November 16, 2012 in the emergency room at Massena Memorial Hospital.
Doug was born October 22, 1966 in Syracuse, the son of the Barbara Attle Munro and the late Donald E. Munro. He first attended Mark Loveless Elementary School in Liverpool before moving to Clifton-Fine Central School, where he graduated. While in high school he attended Southwest Tech in Gouverneur. He also attended SUNY Canton in the Automotive Tech program.
Doug was currently working for Lewis Tree Service, formerly Tamarack Forestry Services, in Canton. He had formerly worked for Marcinko Trucking in Watertown, AFE in Syracuse, and Bob Fleming Tree Service in Star Lake.
Doug devoted his life to his sons and was committed to supporting them in every way. He will be remembered for his devotion to his boys and being a practical jokester to many friends and family.
He is survived by his loving companion of 11 years, Maryjane Clement; his son, Anthony Munro, age 7 and his stepson, Evan Clement age 16, both at home; his mother, Barbara Cook of Dexter; his brothers, Donald and Tammy Munro of Dexter, Wayne Munro and his companion Nickie Hicks of Colorado and Paul and Kim Munro of Yorkville; his companion’s parents, Kelvin and Marilyn Clement of Massena and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Donald on December 27, 1979; his stepfather, Gerald Cook on October 7, 2004; and an infant sister, Elizabeth Jean.
Friends may call Tuesday 2 - 4 and 6 - 9 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home, 100 N. Main St. Massena. A graveside service will be held Wednesday 1:00 p.m. at Cranberry Lake Cemetery with Rev. Orville Eacker, officiating.
