
Funeral services for Dorothy Bennett, 76, formerly of Lake Street, Ogdensburg, will be held on Tuesday, June 26, at Frary Funeral Home at 10 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Welch officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Canton. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening, June 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. Mrs. Bennett passed away on Saturday morning, June 23, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home where she had been a resident the past month.
Dorothy is survived by three sons, David Meyer of Everdale, PA, Joseph (Lisa) Meyer of Morristown, and Timothy (Erin) Meyer of Morristown; two daughters, Marion (Michael) Balice of Metuchen, NJ, and Theresa Bennett of Syracuse, NY; one sister, Joyce Larson, of St. Petersburg, FL; two brothers, John Mills, of South Plainfield, NJ and Charles D. LaRue, of Ogdensburg; eight grandchildren, Michael Balice, Metuchen, NJ, Jordan Hollister, Syracuse, Logan Meyer, Morristown, Madison Meyer, Morristown, Reagen Meyer, Jessica Meyer, Clover, PA, Parker Stout, Morristown, and Braxton Meyer, Morristown; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by brothers, Richard and Joseph LaRue, and a sister, Gerry Trombley.
Mrs. Bennett was born on October 4, 1935, in Ogdensburg the daughter of Dody and Marion (Dwight) LaRue. She attended Ogdensburg schools. A marriage to Joseph R. Meyer ended in divorce. She married Richard Bennett in May 4, 1975, he predeceased her in 1999.
She loved painting and drawing, playing cards, and above all, she loved spending time with her family.
