Donald R. Bell, 74, Winthrop

Donald R. Bell, 74, passed away Monday (July 15, 2013) at his home, with the love and support of his family at his side. Funeral arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Donald’s Calling hours will be Thursday (July 18, 2013) from 6-8 at the Flint Funeral Home.

Donald was born October 19, 1938 in Brasher the son of William & Doris (Murray) Bell and was educated locally. For six months, he was a Military Police Officer, and was a member of the reserves after. Donald united into marriage with Yvonne LaVare together the couple had six children. The marriage later ended and he joined a union with Rita LaBarge, the couple later divorced. For over forty years, Donald owned and operated a dairy farm in Ft. Jackson. He was member of the North Eastern Draft Horse Association and known throughout the United States and Canada. His talent with horses able him to receive numerous first place trophies in many of the horse pulling competitions. Donald loved attending auctions and conversing with his fellow farmers. He enjoyed the family camp, whether it was hunting, or spending time with his family he treasured every moment.

Memories will be forever in the hearts of his mother, Doris of Brasher; a daughter, Laurie Andrews of Brasher and her finance David Westurn of Moira; his sons, David Bell of Winthop, Jeffrey Bell of Nicholville, Donald Bell of Burke, Randy Bell and Peter Bell of Winthrop; a sister, Lettie (Pete) Seefeldt of Niagara Falls; brothers, Benjamin (Charlene) Bell of Castantia , and Curtis (Susan) Bell of Macomb; his grandchildren, Paula Michaud, David Jr. Melissa, Joshua Bell, Amber, Michael Daniel Bell, Ryan Andrews, Vince, Nathan Bell, and Jessica Searles; as well as nine great grandchildren.

Besides his father William, his brothers, Calvin at infancy, William, David, Carl, and sisters, Linda and Louise predecease him.
