Donald Joe Mitchell Sr., 79, Massena, a resident of the St. Regis Nursing Home passed away Thursday, Feb. 28 at the nursing home.
Funeral Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.
Donald was born May 22, 1933, in North Bangor, the son of Alonzo & Leona (Bashaw) Mitchell, and attended school in North Bangor.
September 17, 1955, he united in marriage with Lois Marie Goodrich at St. Mary's Church, Brushton, a union that lasted for 57 years.
He was employed with the Salmon River Central School as a custodian, retiring with over nineteen years of service to the school system.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; two sons, Donald Mitchell Jr. and his companion Shawn Noreault of Brushton, Darwin Mitchell and his companion Mary LaVare of Moira and a daughter, Cherie (Allen) Parker of Brushton.
Also surviving him are his brothers Douglas Mitchell, Fred Mitchell both of Moira; his sisters, Betty (Cleon) Russell of Brushton, Eleanor (Frank) Curtis of Troy and Phyllis Marshfield of Ft. Covington.
Donald is predeceased by his parents; his brothers; Charles, Robert and three sisters, Vera, Theresa and Jean.
Calling hours for Donald will be Monday, March 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flint Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating the life of Donald will commence at 8 p.m. Interment will be held in the spring in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bombay.
