DeKalb Jct -- Dianna J. Sartelle, 68, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Highland Nursing Home in Massena. She was a long time resident of Hermon and DeKalb area.
Funeral arrangements with burial in Hermon Cemetery will be private with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
Dianna was born in Bellows Falls, VT on August 8, 1949, the daughter of Paul and Betty Branch Lique.
She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Francis Beals, and attended school until being diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 16. Dianna was one of the first patients to receive chemotherapy treatments to combat her cancer which provided her with an additional 50 years of life. She eventually received her high school diploma later in life.
She was married to David Sartelle, which ended in a separation, and assisted him with his business Sartelle’s Machinery and Plumbing in Hermon. Dianna was also employed at Sunrise Valley Housing in DeKalb Jct. and was a homemaker, raising her daughters.
Dianna had been a Brownie leader and was a volunteer and EMT in the Hermon Vol. Fire Department. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting, and spending time with her family and pets.
She is survived by her mother, Betty Beals, of New Hampshire; her two daughters, Wendy LaFlair of Canton, and Crystal and Eric Newvine of Arvada, Colorado; her four grandchildren, Ally LaFlair, Megan LaFlair, Davidmykle Newvine, and Alexzander Newvine; her brother, Paul Lique; two sisters, Kathy Masse and Patty Wood; half-sisters, Daniele Beals, Michelle Tetreault, and Donna Jean Misner; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband; her stepfather; a brother, David Lique; and a granddaughter, Jadeolynn Newvine.
Memorial donations in Dianna’s memory are encouraged to organizations that support Leukemia or Diabetes research.
