HAMMOND -- Darlene V. Amyot, 61, of Co. Rt. 6, died at home Saturday, October 25, 2014.
Born on May 4, 1953 in Alexandria Bay, she was the daughter of James and Patricia Pledger Cullen. She graduated from Monroe High School, Rochester, attended Mater Dei College, Ogdensburg and graduated from Potsdam College with a Master’s Degree in Science of Education.
Darlene married Van A. Amyot on July 27, 1974 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Hammond, with Rev. Menard, officiating.
She was a substitute teacher for many years at Alexandria Bay and Hammond Schools and town clerk for Hammond since 2006.
She enjoyed sewing, crafts, baking, quilting, carpentry and shopping.
Survivors include her husband Van; her mother Patricia Cullen, Fairport; a son Alex Amyot, Dekalb; a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Mac Millar, Fairport; three grandchildren, Katie Amyot, Nicholas Amyot and Gwyneth Millar; seven brothers and six sisters-in-law, Richard and Laurie Cullen, Rochester, NY, James Cullen, Goose Bay, David and Carol Cullen, Naples, Robert and Tracey Cullen, Fairport, Timothy and Kathy Cullen, Fairport, Sean and Regina Cullen, Rochester, Duane and Michelle Cullen, Fairport; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Roy Collier, Pheonix, AZ; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her father, James Cullen; at birth a sister, Christine; and granddaughter, Ashley Amyot all died before her.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2014 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Hammond, with Rev. Andrew Amyot, Rev. Robert Decker and Rev. Douglas Decker, officiating. Burial will be in St. Cyril’s Catholic Cemetery, Alexandria Bay.
