Daniel F. Mahar, 50, of St. Lawrence Ave. passed away unexpectedly Saturday March 2, 2013 at his home.

Surviving Dan is his sister, Sandy Sharpe of Waddington; his aunts and uncle, Matt and Jane Layo of Waddington and Beryl Butler of Syracuse; several cousins; and his best friend, Mike Badlem. Dan also leaves behind his German Sheppard, Tara.

Dan was born on September 7, 1962 in Syracuse, to the late William and Phyllis (Layo) Mahar. He graduated from Madrid-Waddington School in 1981.

Daniel work for nearly 10 years as a painter in the Painters Union. He was a well-known painter around the local North Country towns. Dan enjoyed spending time on the St. Lawrence River, and was a lover of animals. He was a joy to be around and was always ready for a good time.

Memorial contributions may be made to your local SPCA.

Family and friends are welcome to join in a celebration of life that will be held on Saturday March 9, 2013 at the Waddington American Legion Post # 420 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Mary's Cemetery Waddington at the family's convenience.
