Cora May Briggs Pharoah, 66, of Leary Road, died Saturday, October 13, 2012, at her home while surrounded by her loving family.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 18th at 11:00 a.m. at the Crary Mills Presbyterian Church with Pastor Donna Doig officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
Cora was born March 8, 1946, in Canton, a daughter of the late, William B. and Mary V. Briggs. She attended Crary Mills Country School before graduating from Canton High in 1963.
On March 13, 1965, she married Velrouse A. “Junior” Pharoah at the Crary Mills Church with Rev. Jack Wells as celebrant.
Cora was the store manager for Green’s Furnitute, Canton for many years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and spending time with her family.
She was a 4-H Club Leader (Crary Mills Husky Worker) for 25 years; meeber of the Crary Mills Presbyterian Church and a member of the Womens Presbyterian Organization.
Cora will be fondly remembered by her husband, “Junior”, Canton; her son, Victor and wife Deneen of Ogdensburg; her daughter, Michelle Pharoah of Canton; five grandchildren, Taylor and Shayne Murphy, Matthew Blackmer, Sarah Johnston and husband Jason and Cody Blackmer; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Besaw of Youngstown, and Carolyn Maloney of Canton; two sisters-in-law, Shirley and Venita Briggs; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Richard “Dick” and William “Bill”; and a sister, Lucille Jenack.
