A funeral service for 99-year old Mrs. Christina Ann Siedlecki of Potsdam will be held Saturday, October 26th at 10:00 a.m. at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam with Msgr. Robert Aucoin officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Potsdam. Friends may call at Seymour Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday from 2 to 4, and 7 to 9 p.m.
If friends desire memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice and Palliative Care, 6805 US highway 11, Potsdam, or to the Potsdam Humane Society, 17 Madrid Ave., Potsdam, NY 13676.
Mrs. Siedlecki died October 22, 2013 at the United Helpers Maplewood Campus in Canton where she had been a resident for a brief time. She previously resided with her daughter Susan in the Town of Potsdam.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Siedlecki of Potsdam, and Patricia A. Strader of Hannawa Falls; seven grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Christina was predeceased by her husband, Stanley; two sons, Edward Siedlecki who died in 2002, and a son Joseph who died in infancy; a brother, Joseph Soyak; five sisters, Anna Luczycki, Julia Urban-Siedlecki, Mary Deon, Helen Saiff, and Frances Zebney; and a grandson, Leon Wayne Strader.
Christina was born in Deferiet, on February 22, 1914 the daughter of John and Julianna (Sisolak) Soyak. She married Stanley Siedlecki in Deferiet, NY on January 27, 1931. The couple resided in Potsdam where they owned and operated the Superior Beef Co. retail meat market for many years. Mr. Siedlecki died in 1978.
