Mr. Burton C. Chevier, Sr. 69, of Parishville, passed away early Saturday morning, May 22, 2010, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born on June 3, 1940, in Ogdensburg, son of Harold Chevier, Sr., and Anna Lago, he graduated from Parishville-Hopkinton Central School in 1961.
On June 29, 1963, he married Dona Mae Planty at the First Baptist Church of Parishville.
Burton was a supervisor at the Potsdam Paper Mill, retiring in 1998, with over 36 years of service.
He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and gardening. Most important to him was spending every moment with his wife, children and grandchildren, making memories as a family.
Burton is survived by his wife, Dona M. Planty Chevier, of Parishville; two sons, Burton, Jr. and wife Cindy Chevier of Parishville, and Patrick and wife Kristen Chevier of Fort Jackson; daughters Karen and husband Paul Colbert of Parishville, and Janel Chevier of Brushton; brothers Maxine and wife Rosa of Jacksonville, FL and Robert and wife Mary of Parishville; sister Marilyn and husband Leland Planty of Parishville; brother-in-law Kenneth Planty and wife Meribeth of Hopkinton; sister-in-law Sally Planty of Parishville; mother-in-law Beulah Planty of Hopkinton; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Clarence and Harold William, Jr. and a sister, Geraldine Kingston.
Funeral services for Burton will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Garner Funeral Home in Potsdam with Reverend Frederick Sykes, pastor and friend, officiating. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Home on Monday, May 24, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
