Funeral mass for Bethany E. LaDuke, 85, of Canton will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Church in Canton by Rev. Douglas Lucia. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Mrs. LaDuke passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Friends may call at the O’Leary Funeral Home in Canton on Monday, August 30, 2010 from 7 - 9 p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, 50 Leroy Street, Potsdam, New York 13676 or to St. Mary’s Church, 66 Court Street, Canton, New York 13617.
Surviving Mrs. LaDuke are a son, Rick and wife Kathryn of Stockholm, NJ; three daughters, Cheryl LaDuke of Norwood, Christine and husband James LaDuke-Guilbault of Colonie, Cynthia and husband Michael Curtis of Canton; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Bethany was predeceased by her husband, Robert on January 17, 2001; a brother Lumen Bulger and by two sisters, Helen Kolonich and Genievea Wickline.
Born April 7, 1925 in Gouverneur, she was daughter of the late Lumen and Bessie Mac (Shampine) Bulger. She graduated in 1943 from Gouverneur Schools. On July 7, 1947, Bethany married Robert M. LaDuke at the Methodist Church in Adams, with the Rev. George Butler, officiating.
Bethany worked for J.J. Newberry Company and for Barbour’s in Canton for 30 years. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, enjoyed crafts and sewing, cookie making and all of the holidays and she especially loved spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren.
