HEUVELTON -- Funeral services for Bernard “Butch” C. Spriggs, age 69 of York Street, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Foxwood Memorial Park with Rev. Paul Dettmer and Pastor Reggie Curtis co-officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Mr. Spriggs passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center with his family by his side.
Surviving are a son, Shawn Spriggs and his wife, Janel of Potsdam; grandchildren, Owen and Liam Spriggs of Potsdam; sisters, Irene Enslow of Lisbon and Patricia Laviolette of Trout River, Quebec; a half-brother, Leo Spriggs of Lisbon; a close family friend, David McCabe of Ogdensburg; special caregivers who cared for “Butch” tirelessly and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
His wife, Marabeth Spriggs and sister, JoAnn McDonald predeceased him.
“Butch” was born on April 2, 1947 in Ogdensburg, a son of the late William “Rocky” and Korleen (Bishop) Spriggs.
He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and later married Marabeth J. Bouchey on June 17, 1967 in Hanover, NH.
During his career he worked at Woods Produce, Acco Brands and the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center where he retired from as a mental hygiene therapy aide in 2002.
He enjoyed having his annual garage sale for 25+ years, telling a good story, driving, socializing with others and spending time with his family.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the St. Lawrence County SPCA or the Heuvelton Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
