Barbara "Bobbi" Anne Matthews, 68, formerly of Canton

CANTON -- Barbara “Bobbi” Anne Matthews, 68, died peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018, from 3 – 7 p.m. at the Rensselaer Falls Fire & Rescue Department in Rensselaer Falls.

Barbara is survived by her husband of thirty-seven years, Duane; five children, Kelly Keenan of Massena, Erin (and Glenn) Guthrie of Middleburg, FL, David (and Alicia) Matthews of Chugiak, AK, Nathan Matthews of Wasilla, AK, and Johanna Matthews and (fiancée, Velasquez Garcia) of Canton; and four stepchildren, Evelyn Williams (and Arthur Palmeter) of Canton, Randy (and Bevin) Rainwater of Hartford, CT, Bonnie Jacobs of Canton, and Lisa (and Brian) Colby of Rensselaer Falls; 19 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; a sister, Betty (and Richard) Mihalik; and four brothers, Richard (and Vita) Rogers, Robert (and JoDana) Rogers, Ronald (and Dorothy) Rogers, and Gary Rogers.

She was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Edna Rogers; brother William Rogers; and stepson, Dennis Matthews.

Barbara was born March 18, 1950, in Presques Isle, Maine.

She was the daughter of Stanley and Edna Rogers.

She lived in Long Island, NY and graduated from Seaford High School in Seaford, NY.

She married Dennis Keenan with the marriage ending in divorce.

She later married the love of her life, Duane Charles Matthews on January 16, 1981. Together they raised 10 children.

Bobbi was a passionate and dedicated member of the Rensselaer Falls Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, visiting and drinking coffee.

She enjoyed going to the casino with her husband, playing bingo, crafting, bowling, crocheting, watching Jeopardy, and singing.

She loved hummingbirds, flowers, gardening, and taking care of her chickens.

Bobbi was a warm hearted person with a beautiful smile, creative mind, and an amazing soul.

She was a devoted wife, sister, and loving mother. She will be missed by many.
