Arthur H. Ferris, 91, passed away peacefully January 19, 2013 surrounded by his loving wife.
Arthur was born November 12, 1921 son of Harold and Jennie (Russell) Ferris in Westville. In 1944 he married Mae LeBlanc in Fort Covington with Father Dufort officiating.
Arthur is survived by four children, Nancy (Terry) Hammond of Syracuse; Deborah (Robert) James of Farmington; David (Linda) Ferris of Ogdensburg; and Robin (John) Jodoin of Cicero; a brother, Merton Ferris of Malone; sister-in-law Marlene Ferris of Heuvelton; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ferris was predeceased by a brother, John; and a sister, June Harvey.
Arthur attended Fort Covington High School. He worked on the family farm and later for GLF in Potsdam, Bombay and Fort Covington. In 1947 he went to work for Dairylea in Bombay and later transferred to Heuvelton as plant manager, retiring after 37 years as area manager.
After retirement Arthur enjoyed spending winters in Florida. He was a member of the Massena Grange, Seaway Squares, the Massena and Seaway Valley Senior Citizens. He also belonged to the Massena A & F.M. Masonic Lodge #513.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, at Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.
Services will take place 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 23, at Foxwood Memorial Park, Ogdensburg with Pastor Beth Benham officiating.
