Mr. Arnold J. Stark, age 85, of Potsdam, passed away on January 7, 2013 at the Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 11th at 11 a.m. at the Garner Funeral Service in Potsdam.
Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Thursday the 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Burial will take place in the spring at Bayside Cemetery. Contributions in his memory can be made to the Charity of one’s choice. Online condolences can be made @www.garnerfh.com.
Arnold is survived by his wife of 62 years, Corrine Stark; a son, Steve (Priscilla) Stark; daughters Gail (Glenn) Scott Jr. and Christine (Todd) Travis; brothers Robert and Boyden Stark; sisters Norma Ames and Lillian Bigwarfe; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Arnold J. Stark was born November 23, 1927 in Potsdam, to the late George and Lena Gardner Stark. He attended Potsdam Schools. He went to work for the Potsdam Paper Mill until he was drafted. He then served in the United States Army from 1946-1948. After his honorable discharge he went back to work for the Nekoosa Edwards Paper Mill where he remained until 1975. He then went to work at Canton ATC. He remained there a couple years and then went to work at the Norfolk Paper Mill and remained until his retirement in 1993 with over 40 years in the paper business.
Arnold was an avid sports fan. He was a big Clarkson Hockey Supporter and was an avid Yankee, Bruins and New York Giants fan. He enjoyed playing golf and hunting and for years he played Men’s League baseball.
